Special News: On Friday May 1st 2009 Sky Sports Tight Lines and broadcaster Keith Arthur will be doing a very special programme entirely devoted to Angling Projects and Les Webber MBE. The show covers the history of Angling Projects and special filming showing the work Angling Projects does with children.
Les Webber MBE will be talking about all the educational work Angling Projects does with schools and pupils working towards BTEC Studies and further education.

Compass Angling present a cheque to Angling Projects

On the 25th of March 2009 at Compass Anglings’ AGM. Chairman John Page along with his wife and club secretary Barbara and Compass Angling’s Committee and members presented Les Webber MBE. & Angling Projects with a stunning cheque for £10,000!
Les was absolutely over the moon!
Les said: “This was beyond anything we could have wished for and will go a long way to helping us for the year.”
It is with the help and donations like this one and the continuing support of people like John and Barbara Page and the members of Compass Angling that we can continue to get the equipment that we need and adaptations for the children.
And to continue to offer Angling Projects and its facilities FREE OF CHARGE to all the children and schools that come here. Thank you to all at Compass Angling.

Chairman of Compass Angling John Page said: “If just one child is steered toward a better life as a result of our effort for Angling Projects then we will be extremely pleased.”
Angling Projects was Compass Angling’s chosen charity organisation for the last two years and it has helped many worthy causes raising money in its charity angling events.

 

April the 16th sees the publication of John Wilson's new Angling Guide. Angling Projects and Junior Coarse Angling UK will feature in this.

A big thank you for the large donation of tackle from David Hall of David Hall Publications and Editor Sean O' Driscol, that was donated to Angling Projects this week, December 18th 2008.

A special thank you to Dave Mannall of the Carp Society for their continuing support and the brilliant show at this years Carp Society event at Sandown.


Les Webber receives his MBE from Her Majesty the Queen on November the 11th 2008. Making history as one of the first to receive the award at Windsor Castle.

Pride of Reading Lifetime Achievement Award for Les.

Pride of Reading Lifetime Achievement Award

On Wednesday November the 5th Les Webber MBE. was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at this years Pride of Reading Awards 2008. Presented by his old friend Chris Tarrant.
It has been an outstanding year for Les as he has been honoured by the Queen with an MBE for services to Angling and helping young people and now he has been honoured by his hometown of Reading.
This year’s awards had a special meaning for Chris Tarrant as his old friend and fellow angler Les Webber, received a Special Lifetime Achievement award.
Les Webber. MBE has helped more than 41,000 children through The Angling Projects Centre at Wraysbury. Many from difficult backgrounds. Teaching them life skills and to learn to fish and the enjoyment of fishing.
Chris Tarrant paid tribute to his old friend, describing him as a “legend in his lifetime”.

 


Fred J Taylor Memorial Gathering

Sunday September 14th 2008, saw a very Special Memorial gathering at The Angling Projects Centre at Wraysbury.
An event in honour of angling legend, the late great Fred. J. Taylor. MBE. A dear friend, Patron and supporter of Angling Projects.

The special inscription on the bench reads:- “In Memory of Fred J. Taylor MBE. 1919-2008 and his loving wife Carrie 1918-2005.”

On this beautiful sunny Sunday a Special Memorial bench was unveiled in Fred’s Honour and placed in a favourite place overlooking the Angling Projects Lake.
Friends and family attended the event including prominent people from the world of Angling. Including: - Dear friends, Les Webber MBE, Fred Buller, Keith Arthur, John Mason and the widow of Richard Walker; Mrs Walker.

Several speeches were made in Fred’s Honour by Tight Lines Broadcaster Keith Arthur, Angling Author Fred Buller and by Angling Projects Founder and Co-ordinator Les Webber MBE.
